People increasingly research potential suppliers on the web – just like you’re doing now. Right or wrong, they’ll rely on the pictures and words they see, and judge – in an instant – whether you’re the type of organization they see themselves working with.

The gulf between ho-hum staff portraits, and head shots that really ‘pop’ – showing how friendly, approachable, and knowledgable your staff are – is surprisingly large. There are plenty of camera-toting individuals who will gladly sell you ‘bargain’ headshot services, but ultimately the cost in lost sales can be great – not to mention the embarrassment if they turn up late while your execs are waiting, have amateur gear that breaks down (with no backups, of course), or simply don’t have the experience to deal with last-minute surprises.

I specialize in photographing ‘real people’ on location. Let me bring my experience shooting thousands of headshots over the last decade, to your workplace, where I promise to get the best out of your people and let their pictures warmly convey their personalities.

How it works

The “mobile studio”: Sometimes you may need conventional headshot portraits on a plain (white, black, grey, or coloured) background – in which case I bring my ‘studio’ to you. Other times you may want a more natural office background. I’m happy to work either way.

On the day of the shoot, setup normally takes me around 25 minutes (although I like to allow 40, and can be ready in under 10 if the pressure’s on!). There are no really special requirements for the shooting area. I can operate independently of mains power, and I bring lighting with me, so natural light needn’t be an issue. Usually a boardroom, or other large meeting room, is ideal.

Once we start shooting, allow 5 – 10 minutes per person. Often, only 2-3 minutes is needed; but some people are less comfortable in front of the camera (or more picky about their ‘flaws’), so it’s nice to have a bit of extra time for them to relax and get used to the idea. Additionally, you may like to have more poses and options for your ‘bigwigs’, so again, if you are able to allow at least 10 minutes with those subjects, that’s ideal.

Depending on the situation, usually it’s possible to have the digital workstation set up to view the photographs as we make them. This can be very reassuring for those that are less comfortable having their photo taken, as it allows them the opportunity to choose their own favourite image, or even keep shooting additional frames if necessary.

I may take anywhere between 5 and 25 frames per person, depending on how quickly we are able to get that perfect frame, and the requirements of your brief .

Delivery: You’ll receive your shots within 2-3 business days – faster if you need it. If for some reason that’s not possible, I’ll let you know in advance (i.e., before the shoot). Your images are delivered via a link to a password-protected online gallery, where you can view and download them individually or in bulk. If you need to share the images with colleagues, simply forward them the link and password – no CDs to lose or wait for in the mail.
